Is there a standard format for a "Disability Retirement" Pension Evaluation?

No. Unfortunately there is an absence of uniformity among states as to what constitutes the "exempt" and not exempt portions of a participant's monthly accrued benefit at the time of disablement. As a general rule it is best to start by determining:

What would a "Comparable Healthy Employee" separating from service at the same time be entitled to receive.

Any benefit in excess of what was accrued by a "Comparable Healthy Employee" would be deemed the disability component of the benefit.

It is suggested that the evaluation also recognize the fact that a not-disabled employee is less likely to begin to receive benefits as early as a disabled retiree.
